About

We built this because we couldn't find it.

For the rider who notices stitching, reads the product description twice, and still can't find a straight answer about whether it's actually worth it.

Bridle & Burlap started after one too many expensive mistakes — bridles that looked beautiful and lasted a season, jackets every forum recommended that didn't survive a real winter. I wanted a site that would give a straight answer about what's actually worth spending money on.

Equestrian life doesn't separate neatly into categories. The rider who cares about her bridle's stitch pattern also cares about her wax jacket and the hooks in her tack room. We couldn't find a resource that treated all three with the same seriousness — so we built one.

We earn affiliate commissions on purchases — you'll find a full disclosure below. What that means in practice: no advertising deals, no sponsored posts dressed as editorial. Every brand here was chosen because we'd spend our own money on it.

We write the thing no one wants to write. The bridle with a wide forehead fit that won't work on most horses. The jacket that photographs well but falls apart after one winter. We say that. It's not comfortable, and it's the most useful thing we do.

What We Believe

How we approach everything on this site

Start with the answer

Name the brand, name the price, say whether it's worth it. Preamble is just friction. The recommendation comes first.

Buy well, buy once

Full-grain over bonded. Brass hardware over nickel plate. The thing you'll still love in five years. Investment pieces earn their place — we explain exactly why.

Tell you when it's not right

If a product isn't right for a certain horse or rider, we say so. Anyone can curate a list of expensive things. Harder — and more useful — is telling you when to skip it.

Honest about how we earn

We earn affiliate commissions when you buy through our links. We're transparent about it. We never recommend something because the commission rate is good.

Affiliate Disclosure

A note on how this site works

Bridle & Burlap participates in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates and AWIN. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

We only feature products we would buy ourselves. Commission rates do not influence which products appear on this site or what we say about them. If a product isn't right for a particular rider, we say so — even if it pays us well.

Prices are updated regularly but may differ from what you see at the retailer. Always check the product page before purchasing.
